The Anchor

Some days hope seems like an elusive dream that you can't quite grasp. The overwhelming darkness engulfs you and every breath takes effort you aren't sure you have.

Hebrews 6:19 tells us that we have a firm and secure anchor in Jesus. We cling to that when the way is uncertain and we can't understand why we're on this path at all.

Faith strengthens us, giving us a firm anchor in turbulent times. Cling to the promises of Jesus. He who calms the storm will hold you close, no matter what you face. He won't let you go. When everything around you is uncertain, hold on tightly to that.

Just Believe

I've always been the sort of person who wanted a plan before I started the journey. I wanted to know every twist and turn early enough to prepare myself for what was to come.

It hasn't worked out so good. I've found that God will always disrupt our plans and send us on a different path when we least expect it.

I realized recently that not everyone knows I am no longer in a retail space. After much prayer, I decided to pull back from that avenue during this season of my life.

I still paint. I will occasionally do custom orders. But mostly I am recharging myself and my creativity. I am writing again. (Did anyone even know that writing was always my first love?)

And I am tending cows and land, feeding geese and ducks and birds. I am trusting that God will show me the right steps as they come.

Sometimes in life you just have to take a deep breath and step out in faith. Jesus tells us to just believe. So I am.

Dream Without Limits

We like to play it safe, don't we? Deep inside we might harbor visions of what could be if we stepped out in faith but we only show what we can see and grasp. We don't want to be labeled a dreamer. We don't want to try something beyond our comfort level because we might fail.

But what if we succeeded? What if we stepped boldly into the dream God has planted in our hearts? What if our faith was deep enough to risk trusting God with the unknown?

What if we believed?

God Will Direct Your Steps

I recently heard someone say that God loves to get caught in His promises to us. I suppose it's because we have to be in His Word in order to know what God has promised over our lives.

I'm always reminding God that He promised to direct my steps. He promised to show me the way to go. God has promised to light my path.

I frequently don't know the way. I take one step in faith, then another, trusting that He has a plan and it is good. It's also scary. For a person like me who always wants to know every turn before I start, taking those steps some days is just hard. I do it anyway.

Faith isn't rooted in fear. It's rooted in trust. I don't know the way but I trust the One who does. I trust His goodness and mercy. I trust His love. And on days when hope seems dim and I'm struggling to understand, that carries me forward yet another step toward home.
